Dural Public School is in a semi-rural setting, surrounded by orchards, bushland and open space. Approaching the school from either direction one must pass nurseries and small farms. However most of the 430 children in the school live in the type of suburban setting typical of north-western metropolitan Sydney. This dichotomy is an important factor contributing to the school's special character. In recent years the Department of Education and Training and the school community have campaigned successfully to prevent unsuitable over-development of neighbouring land. We have dedicated ourselves in our mission statement as a caring, community based school where children, parents and staff collectively strive for success through excellence in education. The partnership of parents and staff remains a strong feature of the school. A significant number of families from outside the school's designated drawing area have elected to join our school community because of these factors, and the excellent results achieved as a result of their operation.
