On Thursday 10th June 2021, Year 2 students will be going on a trip back in time excursion to Elizabeth Farm where they will experience a trip back in time and experience first hand what it was like to live in that time. This will be a wonderful learning experience to compliment our learning throughout Term 1 and Term 2 during our History lessons. Children will need to be at school at 9:00am ready to board the bus. Please meet under the bus shelter outside the office. Please pack morning tea, lunch and drink in an excursion bag. Children are to wear their sports uniform on the day, must bring a hat and wear sunscreen.

Year 1 Excursion to Longneck Lagoon

On Tuesday 15th June, Year 1 students will be going on an excursion to Longneck Lagoon Environmental Education Centre at Cattai. This will be a wonderful hand on experience that compliments our science unit on Schoolyard Safari. Students will be involved in wonderful hands on activities including dipnetting for water bugs observing characteristics of water bugs and their life cycles, they will participate in a bush bug habitat walk where they will identify and classify bush bugs. Children will need to be at school at 8:45am ready to board the bus. Please meet under the bus shelter outside the office. The bus is expected back to school at 3pm ready for dismissal at 3:20pm. Please pack morning tea, lunch and drink in an excursion bag. Children are to wear their sports uniform on the day, must bring a hat and wear sunscreen.

On Tuesday 15th June 2021, Year 2 students will be having an amazing science education incursion with the team from Fizzics Education complimenting our learning in science this term throughout our chemical sciences unit. The students will be involved in hands on practical experiments and investigations. This learning activity will take place in our school hall.

Year 4 Walking Tour Excursion

Year 4 will be going on an excursion of The Rocks this term in alignment with their History unit. When: Thursday June 17th 2021 Where: The Rocks Walking Tours The Rocks, Sydney Travel By bus. Time: Students need to be at school by 9:20am. The bus will leave at 9:30am sharp and will not wait for late comers. We will return at approximately 3pm. Dress: Children need to wear sports uniform. Hats, sunblock and sturdy closed shoes are essential for students. Please apply insect repellent and sun-cream at home. Bring: A low litter lunch. There are no canteen/food facilities available – students need to bring a packed lunch. They will need recess, lunch, a drink bottle and a light raincoat in case of wet weather. Learning Activities Students will be engaged in a range of outdoor learning activities that involve: • First contact between the Eora and British • The Aboriginal way of life before and after colonisation • Significant people and events that fashioned the British penal colony • Relevant sites in the development of Sydney

Stage 3 Olympic Games Day

This term stage 3 students will be studying the Tokyo Olympics as part of our Geography unit. To celebrate the culmination of this unit of work, stage 3 will be participating in an Olympic Games Trivia Day. Date: Thursday 24th June, 2021. Location: Dural Public School Hall Teams: Students will form teams of 8-10. Students that are unable to form a team will be placed into teams by teachers. Cost: $3 per student (to be paid as part of the Term 2 invoice) This money will go towards supplying materials for the day, including the prize medals for first, second and third place. Attire: Each team will choose a theme related to the Olympic Games for the day. Students are allowed to dress according to their theme. For example, students may choose the theme Ancient Olympics and can dress in togas, or their theme may be Rugby Sevens and everyone in their team wears rugby gear. Creativity and originality for themes is encouraged! Students are also allowed to bring along table decorations that link to their chosen theme. Points will be awarded for the best dressed group and best decorated table. Activities: Olympic Games trivia (including flags, national anthems, symbols, athletes), physical challenges, design and build challenges. Thank you for your help in this matter. We look forward to seeing the amazing display of Olympic spirit from our stage 3 students!
