Year 4 Field of Mars Excursion

Year 4 are heading to Field of Mars for a "Kids vs Wild" adventure!

Students need to be at school at 8:50am.

The bus will leave at 9am sharp and will not wait for late comers. We will return at approximately 3pm.

Children need to wear sports uniform. Hats, sunblock and sturdy closed shoes are essential for students. Please apply insect repellent and sun-cream at home.

A low litter lunch. There are no canteen facilities available – students need to bring a packed lunch. A towel and a low litter lunch. They will need recess, lunch, a drink bottle and a light raincoat in case of wet weather. Please pack everything in a small backpack or excursion bag. Please do not pack any heavy or unnecessary items. 

Learning Activities

• Mapping and compass skills - learning how to read certain features of a map and to orient a compass 
• Challenge course – students will work in groups to use their mapping and compass skills to collect clues to help them later build a shelter after a bush walk 
• Bushwalk – in class groups students will walk through the bush led by EEC teachers and presentation of their team animals 
• Shelter building - near the Field of Mars centre, students will use the clues and equipment they have gathered from their challenge course to construct a shelter using teamwork
