Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year. Our policies address attendance, absences, behaviour, technology, uniforms and how we respond to your concerns.
NSW Department of Education Policies
Dural Public School operates in accordance with the policies, procedures and requirements of the NSW Department of Education. These guide our approach to teaching and learning, student wellbeing, inclusive education, high potential and gifted education (HPGE) and other aspects of school operations.

Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
School behaviour support and management plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.

Behaviour expectations for students
Dural Public School is dedicated to explicitly teaching and modelling positive behaviour while supporting all students to engage with their learning. We strive to create a healthy, safe, ordered, supportive, and caring environment that fosters effective teaching and learning for both students and staff. Our goal is to help students become self-directed, lifelong learners who can build a positive future for themselves and the wider community. To achieve this, we establish clear guidelines and expectations regarding rights, responsibilities, and behaviours that are understood by all community members. We believe that our school is a place where each student can learn and grow in confidence.
Our goal is to inspire every child to engage positively within the school community and beyond. We focus on promoting excellence, opportunity, and success for every student, every day. We are committed to fostering safe, respectful learners within a caring learning community.
High expectations for student behaviour are established and maintained through effective role modelling, explicit teaching, and planned responses.
To achieve our mission, we prioritise key programs valued by both staff and the school community, including:
At Dural Public School, we reject all forms of bullying, including cyberbullying, and are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
All members of our school community contribute to building a welcoming culture that values diversity, fosters positive relationships and promotes respectful behaviour. Through Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), social and emotional learning and evidence-based prevention strategies, we explicitly teach students the importance of treating others with respect and understanding that bullying is unacceptable, both online and offline.
Our commitment extends beyond prevention. Staff take reports of bullying seriously and actively respond to concerns in accordance with school and Department of Education procedures. Appropriate action is taken to address bullying behaviour, support students affected and reinforce expectations for respectful behaviour. Responses are guided by the circumstances of each situation and may include consequences, support and opportunities for reflection and behaviour change. Staff follow up on concerns to monitor student safety and wellbeing and help prevent further incidents.
We work in partnership with students and families to promote accountability, strengthen positive relationships and ensure all students understand their responsibility to contribute to a safe and respectful school community.
Department of Education: Student Code of Conduct
This Code is for all NSW public school students. It applies to all school activities, both on and off the school site, including online, and how students conduct themselves individually and with other students, teachers, school staff and community members.

Partnership with Parents and Carers:
Dural Public School collaborates with parents and carers to establish expectations for engagement in developing and implementing student behaviour management and anti-bullying strategies by:
- Inviting feedback from parents, carers, and students through formal and informal means, such as DoE surveys, school surveys, and consultations with the P&C.
- Using feedback to review school systems, data, and practices.

Safe use of technology agreement
At Dural Public School, students are explicitly taught the school’s technology expectations and the importance of using digital technologies in a safe, responsible and respectful manner before signing the Student Technology Agreement.

School uniform policy
At Dural Public School, we uphold a strong commitment to our uniform expectations, which reflect the values of our community and promote a sense of belonging. All students are required to wear the designated school uniform, which includes the full winter or summer uniform and sports uniform. Wearing the uniform fosters school pride, helps reduce distractions, and encourages a focus on learning. We appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring that students adhere to these guidelines, creating a positive and unified school environment for everyone.
